Hope everyone in re-enactor's land has a jolly and festive time that keeps going for all of 2009.

May your wassail bowl be always full and thy beer be cold.

Old english saying( not really I made it up)

Love and Hugs

Greetings. So nice to see so many friendly faces on the group pic-but there are no pics when I click on previous events lists . Are these in the process of being uploaded?

10oz wholemeal flour
6oz plain flour
3 teasthingys baking powder
2 teasthingys salt
1/2 pint butter milk or milk
1 egg beaten, 1 egg to glaze- optional

mix dry ingredients, mix milk & egg and mix into dry ingreds. Mix roughly with a sthingy or knife then knead on a floured surface for a few minutes until smooth. Shape into a round, flat cake and put on a greased baking sheet. Mark top with cross and bake in preheated oven for 35-40 mins. If glazing brush with beaten egg and return to oven for a few minutes.

if no oven available it cooks best like scones on a griddle
it has been known to work without the egg.
It can be made with all wholemeal flour or all white flour

Best of luck, F
